wat wiil 250 buckeroos buy me

im just about to start my bream apprenticeship in tournaments will 250 buy me a nice rod and reel combo to compete with, wat can u guys suggest please round about that price

Just remember to save a fair amount of that money for plastics and hardbodies, they aren't cheap!

You could get a nice little outfit for that price.
Try a Shimano Stella or Squidgy rod, matched with a Daiwa Samurai reel, loaded with 4 pound fireline.
After that, you'd still have a little bit of money for lures.
I think a lot of the guys here would agree with such an outfit.
Some may opt for the slightly more expensive Okuma Epix reel, but this will leave no money for lures.:D

Have a look at matching a Shimano Squidgie Spin (around $100) with an Okuma Avenger 15 (around $70) - that'll leave you with $25 for a spool of Fireline, $20 for a couple of spools of different sized mono for a leader (or two little spools of Siglon Flourocarbon ;) ).

Then you've got $35 to spend on lures, one hardbody, one packet of jig heads and one packet of plastics should bring you to the $250 mark :) Just have a look at the online store here for ideas.

Not a bad starter kit :D
