im new to this game and i am looking to set myself up with some half decent gear, and if i like it i will upgrade, would a daiwa samuri 7i coupled with a shimano sqidgey 6,6 rod be a good combo to start with.
i was thinking of spending between 200-250 on a rod and reel to get me started, can anyone suggest anything else

thanks tim

Well matched combo, and you'll have enough left over from your $250 to get some Fireline and leader as well.

Are you in WA ???

If so, give Geoff a call in the shop tomorrow as we stock both of these. I'll get him to look after you. The number is 9271 0555.

Cheers

Warren.

Hi Tim,

I purchased about 4 weeks ago a Daiwa Samurai-7i reel and a Shimano Steve Starling Squidgy Spin 70 rod from Geoff at the Bream Master shop and have found it to be a great combination. Geoff was also very helpful in setting me up with a good selection of lures and soft plastics. I don't have a boat (yet), so the 7ft rod helps. If you have a boat perhaps go for the 6' or 6'6''.

Cheers,

David

even with the boat i'd be going the 7'

i'm beginning to think 7'6" would be better still...
