Hi

I just found out I need to supply my own PFD for the BREAM comp. (Fair enough!)

I could not search this site as the search engine requires 4 letters.

Any suggestions for a PFD for fishing? I saw a Shakespeare fishermans PFD - green with pockets and comfortable collar - but it is only a 3.

I assume I need a 2 rated?

Your advice please!

Gary

I picked up one for Mim today, it was a RFD 1041E they don't list it on the site but you can always pop into your closest showroom for a peek at the whole range

hmmm... I just looked at your profile and I guess there isn't a showroom near you. Anyway it gives you a starting point as to available products. $60-65 is the price range

Hi Gary,

As far as I know, type 2 and 3 PFD's are OK for the BREAM comps.
These are far more comfortable to wear than the compulsory Type 1 PFD for boating. Around $70 bucks will get you a good one.:)

I'm pretty sure that the boat must carry a PFD 1 for each person on board, but for wearing whilst underway a PFD 2 or 3 is acceptable (as long as there's a PFD 1 on the boat).

It's a comfort thing, as a lot of PFD 1's are bulky and annoying - but they wouldn't be if your boat went over...

Here's some more info if you need it - from the N.S.W. Waterways, though I think it would be similar in W.A.
