Any reviews of these pedal powered kayaks? Does seaweed catch in the "fins". How effective is the sail? etc etc. Their website is http://www.hobiecat.net.au/kayak/outback.htm

Have a look at www.fishnet.com they had a review, they look like a great idea but I was disappointed they didn't have reverse(how much more do I want in a kayak:rolleyes: :D )

They look fantastic and purpose built for fishing which is a bonus but too expensive for me also.

Tracked em down at Cargills Great Outdoors in Burswood/Vic Park
You can get them without the pedal system which knocks a grand off the price - $1300 is much more reasonable.

Hi Guys,

I bought one of these about 3 months ago.
I have had no issues with weed or bags sticking to the mechanism.

This system is actually very fast I was surprised when I first got in it and gave it a bit of effort you can actually feel it lift almost like planing.

I paid $2200 and got the extras too which included an anchor system, trolley wheels, an Esky and a PFD.

I have been using it around Sydney Harbour and it is extremely stable.

Give me a buzz if you want more details

I'm looking at getting a kayak, and wondering whether I can justify the extra $1000ish for one of these puppies. I guess hand free operation has got to be a big advantage.

Hey Mattiger, sent you a PM, where did u pick yours up from?

Has anyone had any issues with hobie kayaks or the pedal drive system at all or heard of anyone who has...directly or indirectly?

Has anyone heard anything about Cobra kayaks?
www.cobrakayaks.com.au
what do you reckon...the Explorer looks pretty sweet to me.
If you look at the American site www.cobrakayaks.com they also have a fish 'n' dive model

Cheers,
