I'm hoping to upgrade my boat 'BREAM ON' in the near future (see pic below)

Having done a hell of a lot of looking around I've narrowed it down to either a Stessl Stinger (I'd post the url but the site is currently unavailable) or a 475 Hornet with a custom outfit similar to a Wildfisher.

Having said that, if I could spend anything I wanted from anywhere on the planet, I'd probably go for one of these:

Gambler 2200 (http://www.gamblerboats.com/Gambler2200.html)

It's 22 feet long and can take a 300 horsepower motor:eek:

So, what would you go for if you could??

Cheers,

(Oh, here's my pride and joy:D )

Sorry guy's I forgot the pic of my boat.

Here she is:D

Nice one Dave...must be a pretty comfortable ride too judging on how relaxed that character is at the front.

I think I'd run with you too on the 475 Wildfisher.

Jesus that Gambler 2200 looks absolutley deadly, you`d sink half the fleet over here as you overtook them. A few Bream stickers and it would look real cool. lol..... Man that looks deadly.

Take that up the rapids in the Kalgan...YYYeeeeeeHHaaaaaaaaaa

Cheers

Richo:p

PS, Ive only been Breamin for 3 months and boy do I reckon I need a boat...... or is that my new addiction getting the better of me.....??

Good god, I didnt realise that would provide a photo.

Its a rocket with casting decks:eek:

I've had the 'top view' of the Gambler 2200 as my desktop pic for a couple of months now - it certainly provides inspiration :D

Dave, this is only going to hurt me more, but what does that big beast cost?

Dave W
06-12-2002, 05:58 PM
Not too sure Craig, I saw something similar, although smaller, on a second hand U.S. Bass boat site for $40,000 U.S. so I'd be guessing in the 50-60k range.

But then when a major comp prize over there can be $100,000+ U.S. cash, it's probably not a bad investment - at least that's what i'm going to tell my wife:rolleyes: :D

Craig_S

Dave, I saw some new rules last night for US Bass fishing and the prize pool is unbelievable:eek: Between 300-400K US.

Some amazing rules too, like polygraph tests for winners where they are involved in a dispute and maximum horsepower capped at 250!!!

:D :D :D :D Polygraph tests for a fisherman???? No-one would pass :D

I'd heard about the 250HP thing - just means they'll start making lighter and smaller boats, wonder how long before the first sinking??

Hey there people, first id like to say what a great upgrade. :D Top stuff Warren.

About this boat thing, id have to say the boat i just bought would be it (for the time being) after all it did have 19 customisations!! Nah really though if you look at a quintrex 435 topender and put it in a 420 dory hull and add a Minn Kota RT55AP with a 30hp yammie on the back. Thats what im looking foward to !! Pick up 19th Janurary.. fingers crossed!! Wanted a boat that was big enough to do some fishing in boatany bay and jervis bay yet small enough and stable enough(to a degree obvioulsy not like a pointy punt) to do some serious breaming in the esturaries.

There it is, hopefully ill post a pic when i get the thing.. its gunna be a long wait!!

hey that gambler boat looks unreal.... I just dream of something more stable than a std dinghy. I've got an 8yo 3.8m Savage Snipe but ideally love the look of the Quintrex 435 Hornet. It just seems that the latest hulls are wider which makes life more comfortable

im thinking of pulling out my bathtub and wacking a minn kota on the front:D :D :D the casting platforms gonna be a bit small though but it has a HUGE live well...just pull out the plug and fill to the required level:eek:

cheers pete

There's probably no point getting it sign written on - it'd still be just a blur when it went past you at 90 miles an hour:eek:

My dream bream boat would be either a 455 or 475 hornet wildfisher. THEY ROCK. Wouldn't mind the Gambler either.:D
I'd want to have a bow mount leccy on the hornet, cable steer if possible, (MotorGuide are bringing there great white motors over here soon, saltwater models, which include bow mount - they are 24v and min thrust on the models is 81lb, for around $1800 if i heard right  ) They sound awesome, and with 81lb's of thrust, you'd almost be planing:p . I'd want 2 livewells in it that recirulate the water in the tank as well as pumping new water in. Side console, maximum HP for speed :D, giant rod lockers to fit a 9 foot long wand in, level platforms throughout, lowrance x-91 or H'bird legend 3005, GPS, and i'm sure there more but i just can't think of anything else at the moment.

Joe, I just checked and there's nothing there - I've also got the 'pop-up-box' feature on to let me know when I get a new one.

I was wondering if something's going on with them as I sent a couple to Warren yesterday that are still unread (had a look at message tracking)

Try sending an email through this system - may work:)

That Gambler sure looks mean!!!

BUT i dont know how it would handle 30knot north east in the Parramatta River and the wakes from our rivercats are well, BIG!

Anyway i cant dream about a dream bought cause i just bought my new boat!
It will do me :D

The casting deck is brilliant!!

Dave W
11-12-2002, 05:50 AM
The Gambler is all casting deck:D

I'm amazed they put a console in - I wonder how you'd go with just a throttle and steering wheel poking up through the deck:confused: :D

Then again, at the speeds it's capable of a windscreen of some kind is a must!

i'm looking at a boat made by a co. called Walker Bay.
They're cartopable,37kg,i can put an electric on the back (which gets them on the plane i'm told) and one person.
i'd love a larger boat but this is kinda a comprimise between a canoe and a tinny(untill i can afford something larger)
anyway,
Kris

Hey Dave,
I reckon that Gambler only needs a" thought controlled" bow mount and she'd be a real winner:D
How much hull would be in the water at full throttle?

Hey Warren, If you need a NSW team, and your supplying the Wildfishers,I could probably help you out LOL:rolleyes: :D

I have a brand new Quintrex Hornet 445 Wildfisher with a Mercury 50HP EFI 4 Stroke on the back. Its a great boat but unfortunately a couple days ago I had fuel flow dramas. An investigation by the dealers I bought it from has found it has a faulty fuel tank. There is a crack or a hole in the pick up pipe in the tank at around the 20 litre level so now Quintrex is making a new tank which has to be shipped here & fitted etc. Not happy Jan. Heres a pic anyway

Hi Ravin

that's one nice lookin' pic of the Quintrex. It is the kind of boat I aspire to and if you fish half as well as the boat looks you'll be getting hookups hand over fist. Pity you had the fuel problem. All should run well soon.

Hi gents,
I have been keeping track of the BREAM happenings back home
for a while now. Being based in China is a bit of bugger never seem to be home when comps have happened one day!! but it helps with the purchase of some new toys.
I ordered a new Trailcraft 4.5 Profish last time home with a few of mods. mount up front for an electric and hatches to take the extra batteries and stuff. take delivery late january.
Will be looking for some advice on the game, and hope some of you can get out to show me the ropes?
Cheers

Ravin,

How do you find the 445. I'm in two minds about which one to go for between the 445 and 475. Do you ever wish you had a little bit more room ???

I'm thinking of doing some tours up the Collie River so the extra room might be advantageous. That being said, It probably wouldn't have got up the rapids at Albany.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Warren.

My dream boat is the Quintrex Wildfisher Balance 475 by Caloundra City Power Boats.. but id get mine with a poling platform at the back to push the boat around our many sand flats for trevally and other species when taking friends flyfishing and lurefishing.. maybe i'll get it in a few years if they let me trade my current boat in which is below.. a Clark "Seahunter Kakadu" 4.3meter boat with full floors and a side console i had installed

Indeed :)

Here is the guts of her... 4 seating positions.. but the seats are buggered.. the guy who made them used cheap material so i'll be making up some good ones soon.. and a casting seat so you can sit/stand while flicking lures from up the front and drive an eleccy motor once i fit one... on the console i have 24meg Radio and Casette Deck with speakers mounted under the console out of the way of being knocked or catching anything... also got the fuel gage and speedo.. at the rear of the boat there is a small 25 litre live bait tank... havent got it fitted with bilge tho.... and the rear also doubles as a casting platform if you want to stand nice and high... she has a 60 litre underfloor fuel tank and is powered by a 35hp Evinrude 'Elan' 3 cylinder motor.. and she powers along at a good 60km with 2 people on full throttle with no winds and flat waters.. also very sea worthy and handles big waves nicely...

Warren having a bit extra room is always nice but the 445 Wildfisher is just fine for the fishing I am doing here. Plenty of room for hundreds & hundreds of little rubber things & plenty of room in the rod storage locker. I am very happy with it.

I am currently fishing out of a 4.15 m Hydrofield with a 4S 50 Yam. It has a small centre console, a casting deck, 55 bow mount. very basic tri-hull glass boat but there aint nothing safer than this for its size.

Modifying it slowly with time and money. biggest problem is deciding exactly what I'm going to do without adding to much weight.

cheers

Simon.

Love to get a newer 4.5 m of the same with a 60hp and factory fit it out the way I wan't from scratch.

Hi guys,

Can you try and keep your pics to 500x500 pixels or less please. It blows the page layout otherwise. I've edited the pics above for you Tim. Is that a crowny sitting next to the console on your first pic ???

Richo, your Ronald McDonald craft had to go...LOL

Nope.. thats actually a diving knife ive mounted to the side of the console for emergencys.. it floats and everything... the bright handle gets ur attention and if you wanna store stuff.. the cap ontop of the knife unscrews.. so u can keep some cash in there if u need that aswell.. need a sharp knife like that in all boats.. its not just for dispatching fish or cutting up bait if you need a sharp knife... but your safety.. if your stuck offshore and youve got big swells and your anchored up and you cant pull yourself free.. or the boat cant because its too dangerous.. you cut yourself free.. simple as that

I'm a qualified diver, Tim. When I first started diving, I bought a FBK (you can work out the initials?? :D ) that had a hollow centre that you could store stuff in. I was soooo smart one day, working out that I could put the car key in there, so I could take it with me, and the car would be safe up in the car park.

I went for a dive one day at Cook Island (just off the Tweed) and came back on board to discover my knife was not in the scabbard. So much for FBK's!! Now I carry two tiny line cutters. The FBK theory at the start was to protect myself from BBT's (another exercise for the brain!). I got my idea's from Sea Hunt. :)

Nowadays, if a serious BBT comes near you, you just use the FBK to stab your dive buddy and swim off. That's the theory anyway. :D

What I want realistically is a 435 Hornet with custom extended transom and a 60hp Yamaha 4-Stroke. That would fly. In my dreams (well maybe not if Tracker brings boats into Aus.) is one of these. Aluminium hull bass boats, not overly huge - managable size and perfect for breamin':

http://www.trackerboats.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.boat&nav=14&boat=587

Rated to 75HP.

Actually bugger it... need something to fly over the flats without risk of taking out the prop. A jet boat. A BREAM jet boat! :D :

Wonder if that would fit on the back of my punt:)

jimi

Hey Chris, that jet boat would be cool. No more worrying about dinging props on snags/rocks.

The thing that worries me about american boats is how flimsy they are. They've got a 24ft model on that site that is made of what they call "heavy duty 0.125 gauge aluminium". Turns out that is 3.2mm sheet.

I don't know how long a 24ft boat made of that would last over here (an aussie built boat that size would be at least 6mm plate alloy). ......And there is nothing unusual about this boat, many of their boats are built to much lower standards than ours.

I know you're only dreaming with the U.S. boats, but go aussie made (like a hornet or that cool custom built one that DaveW mentioned a while ago) at least they are built for our conditions. :D :D

Craig_S
09-04-2003, 09:22 PM
Chris, did you look at those nitro boats as well? This one rated to 300hp and starting from US$33000 (Aus$55000)

chris_lemess
09-04-2003, 10:39 PM
Yeah Craig, but Nitros are all 'glass, whereas Trackers are alum.

Jimi - you're right, I'd like a custom one built to that shape with thicker gauge alum.
