I haven't used a bright mainline before, but i can't see it being to much of a problem if your using a leader.
You could even extend your leader further if you wanted to.
My leaders sometimes gets close to two metres, but shorter each time i retie a lure / jig.

I believe red/pink is one of the 1st colours to go out of the spectrum as it sinks in the water. I have used it and had no issues, and the guys Basshard would be in the same cat being orange. So should be no issues using it.

Pink is fine, all the fireline's work well, you will find that you get confidence in your area using one specific colour over the other. If your water is clear, try using crystal line when you change over from fluro.
Good Luck

hi
i believe using pink fireline is fine when i first started using pink fireline about 6months ago i went bait fishing with it and i still caught bream without a leader tied so if that what happends without a leader then i say pink berkley fireline is fine for a mainline.
regards,
keechie
