Hi guys,
I was reading somewhere on here that its cheaper to mould your own jig heads. I would like to give this a try. I want to mould a few sized jig heads and styles. Any help would be great!

Once again the company that does Gamakatsu also do the Do it range of jig moulds. Your local tackle shop will be able to show you what moulds they are able to get their hands on.
Just to wet your appetite here is the link to the do it website.

I make my own jig heads using the Do it moulds and find it dead easy and great value for money.
However the Do it range are mainly for heavy jig heads and not much variety for the lighter heads.
I just use a simple ball head mould and can pump out 50 in no time at all.
But if you make your own be careful as lead is poisonous and can burn like hell !!! and keep water well away , a small drop into the molten lead can make it explode.
Cheers

gamma's do a jig hook which is easy to attach a split shot to and when you get the hang of where to put it, they work as good as the bought ones for around 50 cents

You can buy the Do-It molds directly from Frogleys (the importer) and cut out the middle men.

My geuss is that frogleys would be the middle man.
As far as I know they don't stock the smaller size jig molds. I got 2 delivered from Canada and at the time they were not available locally .

You can get the molds from Frogleys and they do sell them down to 1/48 just means you have to get a mixed mold 1/48 up to 3/8 and you only get one of each. I have a mold that does 1/32 and 1/16 minnow head style heads and one that does 3/32 and 3/16 ball head jigs. They're great molds and take both the HW and LW hooks it just takes a bit of tinkering to know what size will fit as the recommended size hook isn't the only size you can use. It means you can vary hook size and jig weight. I use HW and LW Gamas for my jig heads, but if you can source owners they would be the go, good luck with that! Just ensure when you ring frogleys make sure you know exactly what you want and tell them, buying OS is a cheaper price normally just not at 63c US at the moment.

These products may be suitable for your application look for RTV silicone M4470 and the low melt alloy sticks.

Many good products on this site for other moulding applications ie. Hard bodies and even Soft plastics.
