Looking for a spool of 2lb. Any suggestions? Right now tossing up between Fireline Crystal and Platypus. Any other brands?
P.S. Does Platypus break above its test like Fireline?
Also which one do you rekon is thinner out of the two...if you can tell the difference.;)
Cheers

Mate I can't offer any advice from personal experience but I do remember reading the report when Bushy won the ABT event with a 10.44kg 2 day limit. He caught his last fish of that comp on a separate rod and reel he kept rigged with 2lb line fished straight through to the jig, no leader if I remember correctly.
The line was Berkley Trilene Sensation 2lb
Campbells do stock it but only in the higher tests maybe they can get it in for you.

hey,
not sure wether i should be giving you any advice as i am an idiot to u...
but anyway since you are struggling.. i got some 2lb platypus in a prize pack, realllly good on line and knot strength and durability got a few wind knots but all is needed is to load it 3 quarters of the spool.
its funny but the first session the braid didnt cast as far as it does to now.
i use linesystems now because of a rec guide rod :p but imo plaqtypus is better then fireline in 2lb

Never used the fireline crystal but have had no probs with 2lb super braid. Breaks at knot around 6lb. Any wind knots I can just pull out 95% of the time as its that slippery. Knots must be well tied as well for the same reason and I always double it over when tying on leader as its small diameter tends to cut the flouro

Oh comon now, IT WAS A JOKE! I thought I explained it in that other post. I guess sarcasm doesn't come across that well over the net.:o I DON'T think your an idiot or a loser or anything like that. Like I said in my other post, I was joking.:) If it really means that much to you, I'm sorry (really I am) that I poked fun at you and you dressing up like elmo. I didn't mean for it to cause this much trouble, honestly it was a joke.:( :)
P.S. thanx for the advice you guys, think I'll go for the platty but I can still be swayed into another direction.;)

The Platy 2lb is a really nice line. I'd def go for that. I've used both and think the Platy is superior. It casts better and feels better - I guess you could say it is more "flossy". It does fluff-up the first time you use it, but then settles down to be really nice.

I found the platy 2lb good, you need to take more care with spooling up and usage. Like a high maintenance woman you just need to give it a little extra love. I was informed from a reliable source that when they tested it, it was breaking around 9lb.
I have skulled dragged 1kg+ bream from bridges and such with it, cant remember it ever braking. I have upgraded to something more expensive, I find it alot nicer but is like double the price of platy.

Umm the Avari? Sea Bass 10lb. Needed new line so I thought I would get something a little spankier and this was suggested to me. Nice line, got a nice feel to it and you dont have to nurse it as much as the 2lb platy. But at double the price I expect it to bring me a coffee in the morning before getting out of bed for a fish.
