Gday guys... just have a quick 'silly' question - but I really don't know the answer...
After every fishing trip, do you guys usually cut off the leader and tie a new one on the next trip or you just leave the leader there til the next trip, considering it is still in good length?
Will the knot get 'weaker' if I leave the old leader attached til the next trip?
Thanks

G'day K4, the only times I change my leader are when I have been snagged more than once and I have had to put a lot of pressure on the line to free it from the snag, or, after the 3rd fishing trip whether I have caught anything or not, I go fishing about 5 times a week, so far I have not had a leader break and have never had a knot give way in normal fishing, this has only happenned when snagged beyond recovery.. Basicaly, if the line has been put under a lot of pressure on one trip I allways renew the leader..... Nev..

I used to change my leader when it got down to about half a metre. I found though that by testing leaders of varying age, that they do get brittle with time and use. For this reason, I replace my leader each session. It's a one minute process that has the potential to save lures etc.

During a comp, I always re-tie my leader before each session, and test the knot throughly. Again, its a simple and quick process that has resulted in never losing a fish to a breaking leader.
