View Full Version : Tackle boxes
I currently have 25 bream hardbodies that i store in those plano boxes that hold 5 lures in each. At the moment this is cool cos I just throw em in my backpack and off I go. But as the collection grows I'm wonderin what other options there are. I'm sure quite a few of you fellas and ladies have a whole lot more than 25 lures and maybe you could pass on some of your storage ideas.
russ.
To me you can't go past something like a Plano tackle bag. Easy to use and you can store 5 large tray and tools etc easy.
Good value to me as mine was $80 with 5 large boxes.
Well worth a look.
Hi Russ, I keep mine in a plano 4000 series clear plastic box that is just the big brother of the ones you are using. I only need one currently for around 30 hardbody lures, but it's full and I also want another for my softies (I've been using a plano tackle wrap for them, but find it a bit fiddly when I need to change tails often).
I'm going to buy one of those softbags that warren sells that holds 4 of them. That way I can manage my other lures as well.

Russ,
Ive just purchased a Soft Esky which fits 4-5 lge stowaway4000 boxes in and its great, I have had a look at plano bags as with most other brands etc, the esky I got is insulated and has just as many pockets as any other and is of similar size.
Before that I had 4 of the size down, stowaway3700 I think, all fitted nicely into me Shakespeare bag, which I used this for both boating and shore bashing, but its getting to heavy now.
So I picked up 2 stowaway1000`s which fit into the top pockets of me columbia shirt, I can carry 9-10 hard bodies and a fair range of softies & hooks, and for once no back pack.
Thats the way Ive gone, and Im stoked.
Cheers
Hey Russ, I keep my tackle in a pair of bonds briefs. I haven't seen them in a tackle store yet which is strange. You can buy them from Myer and Target etc. I have about 10 pairs, this way I can make sure my tackle is always fresh. This is important if you want to attract the bigger breeding population.
I prefer the brief style to the old undie style undies as it keeps my tackle alot more secure.
My wife is constantly telling me that I play with my tackle too much but it's very addictive. I reckon that your tackle must always be in top shape as you never know when you might need to whip it out.
:D
uh huh!
Thankyou for that valuable input Ira. No more commando style for me. I'm headin to Kmart.
Hey ira.
I'm investing in some thermal briefs for my tackle. I hate the idea of less tackle in winter!:D
It's quite the opposite of Richo and his Esky.:D

Not sure about the butt, or what the rod is rated - Sorry - yours was custom built isn`t it Ira....:D :D We know you love you fishing mate, but havn`t you got your name on it and a pic of a bream on it also .:D
Good idea kingpin. I hate it when you launch your boat in winter and your tackle gets all wet. Can make for an uncomfortable start to the day.....
Ira, do you store mostly softies in yours?
Man wet tackle sucks, especially when you dont use it for a while and it gets all rusty and tired looking. i personally try to use mine as much as possible, that way its always in top shape! In fact i think i'll be goin for a fish tonight!
Dave
yeah same. I hate having to spend time fiddling around just to find the bone. I find replaing the bone in its original place is by far the most enjoyable part of the fishing experience!!!:D
lol
You guys crack me up!!!!
On a more serious side, try Big W. They have a great bag that holds 6 trays I will post a pic of it
and inside. These bags are only around $50 too

I like to give mine a quick sand with wet and dry before a fresh coat of paint.
(are we talking about the same thing?)
