In video 2006.09.27 you'll see a man rig a craw bait weedless then put a tiny 'nail' like weight into it's belly. Could you please tell me what these are? And are they available in Aus?

A nail sinker basically allows you to embed weight anywhere into your plastic to suit your needs.
The Japanese use these weights for neko-rigging against the black bass (~ wacky rigging with the nail weight inserted into one end of the worm). It's been said to imitate prawns flicking their tails and escaping (which is sort of what the wacky rig does, but the wacky rig tends to sometimes spin in the water if not rigged properly, so the nail weight proves to be a ballast to an extent). Alternatively, when you hop a shad-shaped worm along the bottom in a tail-up fashion, it could look like a baitfish hunting for crustaceans, etc. amongst the sand/mud.
You can access a Neko rig video here: http://www.purefishing.jp/product/berkley/gulp/07/index.html
Nail sinkers are also used in soft jerkbaits when rigged with a weedless worm hook (or any other way). You can insert these sinkers further down the back of the jerkbait on its underside to give it a more horizontal stable sink.
And when you insert these sinkers into the rear end of craw-like or hula-type baits, for example, it can give the bait a backwards fall. Useful when fish are deep within a structure which you wouldn't be able to access by a conventional vertical sink type lure.
As to the availability of these in Australia, I have not seen any in shops. Improvised by cutting up nails, haha.

Thanks Rayman, I'll be having a looksee for them, you mentioned putting one in the tail, this could great for getting a placcie in holes on rockwalls!
I have had a look and seen they range from 1oz through to 1/74oz! Big range!
Buhdabtb, all those vids would be awesome with subtitles! I'd love to ehar how thoe pro basso's in jap use tackle. They have finesse (1000 size reels) and 1/32 plazzies in 1 vid! ;)

Variety of sizes. I really want some now! Would be awesome to help skip worm hooked lures under jetties and the like.
