As the ABT tour guides havent arrived yet you may not know that there will be a leg of the ABT bass electric being held at Lake Bullen Merri on Sunday February 11th. Comp times are from 7am till 1pm. There is not prefish ban as per bream events and you can also fish with a mate. Therefore you can make a weekend of it by having a fish on sat at Bullen merri or maybe nearby bream waters like the Hopkins and Curdies. This weekend is the weekend after the Glenelg ABT event so you could wangle a week off and fish your way along the coast between the two events.

Bass electrics are a great low presure introduction for someone who has been thinking of entering ABT or Vic Bream events but hasn't done so yet.

Prize packs are awarded as well as the chance to qualify for the Bass Electric Grandfinal to be held at Wivenhoe in Qld, home of some trully massive bass!

For more information email back to me at this link or check out the www.australianbass.com.au and check out the bass electric section.

troy,
the rules state that... "bass electric events are open to competitors of all ages but those under 16 must have consent from their parents and?or a guardian present."
therfore i asume you'll be fishin with your son and that will be fine!!
see you at nelson

Cost for the event is only $20. unlike most bass electric events you can use your main motor but only at slow speed.

On another note i was informed today that there are is a number of non boater spots available for the ABT bream Glenelg event on the 3/4th of Feb. With plenty of flash boats and anglers like dizzy borg and chirs slick wright attending it could be well worth making the trip if you get lucky in the draw.

Things looking good for the comp. The recent wind and rain has cleared the algae up quite well. plenty of minnows schooling and bass and chinook on the move.

If you are attending the comp make sure you get there well before 7.00 to get the boat in,sign up and attend a short briefing at about 6:45.

Mark,
Went up to BM on Friday morning, you could smell the lake from the road and the water had the consistency and colour of pea soup. No airators were running.

As I arrived at the lake on Sunday morning conditions looked more as you would expect to encounter arriving on a winter’s morning to tackle the lakes trophy salmonid population. Initial forecasts earlier in the week of a 30 degree day quickly disappeared with gale warnings being issued Saturday.
Nine hardy souls arrived to brave the inclement weather in the attempt to tackle the local bass population. After a wild night of wind and rain things weren’t looking too bad as the boats headed out from the start line. Maybe improving weather and overcast skies would see the bass bite.
However by the time the third and strongest rain band blasted through at about 10am the anglers knew the weather and the bass had them beaten. Locating fish on the sounder was no problem but competitors only reported receiving a couple of half hearted nudges from the shut down fish.
Hopefully next year will see competitors experience more conducive conditions that will assist them in conquering the Bullen Merri bass population.
