The Diawa Heartlands are a great rod, I am looking at one myself. Have a look at the Strudwick range as they seem very good, check out the TPS series. Another brillant alternative are the Speed Samurai, in particular the S002. Fantastic rod and have been using them since they were released. They only come in blank form so you will need to get someone to build it. I think Garry Howard as them built off the shelf.

I agree that the Samurai makes a nice rod as we have made a few. It is true Gary Howard mades alot of them. Also, our 6'6 Bream Reaper fits your description quite well. Just another option to mention.

I am not sure where you are in Qld Drew, but if you live near Tewantin, our rods are in a shop called "Hooked on Angling & Outdoors" and in Brisbane's Tackle Warehouse. IF you are keen, I can get you in touch with Matt Fraser for a test cast if you are in the Brisbane area.
Cheers,
Cindy
