I used to have a 40lb Minn Kota, and used my 90Amp deep cycle on it, i would get a full days work from say 6am to 5pm .

I now use the same battery on my 46lb Motorguide and i still get a full days work. So 90 or 100amp should be fine.

Hey Mark,
Mate i am running a 50 amp hour battery and it's just not enough. A 90 amp hour battery seems the go and should set you back around $180-220 bucks. I don't believe there is a specific brand about that's better than any other, just make sure it has at least 12months warranty on it. You will also need a decent charger, mine is only a 2.2amp and hasn't got the balls.
12v deep cycle batteries are designed to be drained and then brought back up again. You should spend a bit of dosh on a charger that has an auto matic cut off and a good amp charge rate, once the battery is charged you can overcharge and destroy it. If you get an auto cut off you can charge your battery on the saturday of the comp and not worry about it and come back sunday morning ready to go, otherwise you have to watch it every few hours and it will give you the DohDohDohDoh's.
I got mine from Marlows, but i recomend Battery world as they have there DohDohDohDoh in one sock so to speak.
Good luck mate

Hey Mark, I got a Century 85amp battery which does the job okay for $160 - little bit bigger might have been nicer though. Also using an 8amp charger which is pretty sweet.

Hey Madfish how ya going mate,

I run a motolite gold 109amp for my boat and it handles the load well with my 55lb kota, fishfinder, bilge pump and aerator. I picked it up from Battery world for around $ 160/170 can't remember. Mad Phil and Ira have one also and dont seem have any complaints. I don't know if your worried about the weight but it would be a bit heavier that some of the other mentioned batteries on this thread.

You may have to let some of your bigger Bream go so you dont overload your boat mate!!!..........Bummer

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like 100ah is about the go then. I noticed your mug in fishing mounthly Craig nice fish mate. It's been pi$$ing and hailing since last night the water temp has dropped 5deg and the blackies have disappeared big time, waiting for a big high to push this $hit away.
