g'day all

been luring bream for a while now and have always wanted to get them on the surface (along with any other species), They good old yella fin is one of the fav's the last few years and trying new things to get them on was sum what tricky

but i think i have come up with a winner using softy's weightless on the surface

firstly the theory hadn't been working for me as i had not found an ideal location for bream popping..... after reading buschy's and starlo's lure bream book i refined me hard body techniques ..... problem number one was that i haven't got a boat so the options for ideal locations was very limited.......

after a lot a searching and car fuel i started trying marines... well more the parks of marines...little public areas leading into water.....they provided good shelter and food for our breamy friends..... the best of them have large rocks with rocky bottom and shallow edges with a steap drop-off..... one such marine had all these features and so therefore i decided to flick a theory at the buggers......

the theory is a 1 & 1/2 inche atomic crawdad on a pro select hook, 4lb leader and 4lb fireline... under it's own weight the craw fish will slowly sink with that leader (4lb), but with a thicker leader say 8lb's the craw will float (well untill the bream takes it)........

i comprimised with 6lb and found that sum float and sum don't but it was a start in practice........ so as i have been playing with the idea for a while, i though it might be time to try it..... so i did

it took two casts to find out whether it worked or not (well three for the strike and grab), after searching a rock wall with the first cast i throw another and gave it 2 twitches and stop for about 30 seconds...... i then got a smash ...this breamy was agressive and hit a surface lure like a bass.... quickly rolling over the top and down..... it didn't hook up ...(doh) ...... throw another right in there agian staright away..... 2 twitches of about 3cm of movement and bang .....fish on (as the yanks say) after being broken of on several attemps this one was no expection and went straight for cover...flashing her side in the clear water.....(possibly change in leader as this one keeps breaking on rock-berkley vanish)(any suggestions to another style)

this fish was aprox 20/30 cm long but like every fisher i'm guessing the one that got away!!!

it took this lure in about 6 inches of water.

what i want to know is there any one out there that has been luring surface bream for a while as i am a huge fan of this style and prefer it over any other ...... love to discuss any further experiences with fellow surface feeders....

sorry i craped on for a life story but i could chat about bream, like you guys for hours (beats lecturing the girlfriend about it)
