G'day fellas. Am looking to respool my small alvey and was wondering if any one could recommend a line to suit. Needs to be mono or hybrid. Usually go with the platypus platinum in 8lb but have seen thislo stretch (http://www.fishplatypus.com.au/lostretch.htm) and it got me thinking

That new lo-stretch looks like pretty sweet line. I'd still stick by my old favourite Yo-Zuri Hybrid, a little bit more $ but well worth it, best casting mono i've ever experienced.

G'day,

Sufix-X 25lb Copper Braid. Works a treat, buy them in 300m spools for $30. Probbably not enough line though. Buy two of them and join them together. I'm sure someone on the website can recommend a good knot for this. Albrite or Uni maybe. I don't know, I'm not a knot expert lol.

Hope this helps,

Nugget.

Oh, by the way. The diammeter of the Sufix-X 25lb Copper Braid is 0.14mm.

Hope that helps you out somehow.

whats it like limpness and memory wise? I really want to hear about characteristics of different lines coz the wrong line can turn a great reel into a b!tch if it doesnt suit eg: line twist on an alvey. Newby- braid (and to a lesser extent) thin diameters dont suit alveys as you need to guide the line back onto the drum with your index finger (ouch!)

It's got very low memory and is as as limp as...well i can think of something to compare it to, but i dont think it would be appropriate...Put it this way, It's the best casting mono I've ever used. Low memory, soft, limp, long lasting, low visibility underwater but good vis above, great knot strenght...Talking like this could get me a job as a promo person for Yo-Zuri :P
