I've been watching the amount of guys posting about canoe and kayak fishing, and decided it was time you had your own forum.
Here it is guys, use it wisely...

Good one warren:D
I speciffically bought a kayak to fish from and love it. I'm taking it down to East Gippsland this weekend and hopefully will have some pics.
Thanks, Shoey.
p.s. Hey Sandworm, I've also got a canoe, if your interested we can give the Patto a go one arvo. You should see the horses that live under the townhouses in the marina!

Good Stuff!
I'm looking at getting a kayak very soon. A canoe/kayak dedicated forum will prove to be very helpful in making sure I get the right one.
Cheers,
Lizard

Sandworm,
You are allowed to fish the Patterson Lakes, but you need a boat or other watercraft to do it. The shore is all private property and there just is no access unless you own a house there.
No restriction on entering or fishing from a boat though.
I hope you do well there and I look forward to hearing about your canoe/kayak adventures if you do end up getting one.

The marina area where the townhouses are is a no fish zone.
I was paddling around there on the weekend and was asked not to fish. I had a look under the townhouses and saw heaps of really big bream. I dont think you can be seen from outside looking in so had a few casts but no takes or even follows.
I'm still learning so if the technique improves so might my luck.

There are some absolute thumpers in the Marina lake. I've spent many afternoons feeding them bread from the public bar balcony at the Cove Hotel wishing I could throw a line over the side
I've also spoken to some of the guys at the boats shop / marina and they tell me that they often see Jewies loafing about under the pontoons.
That lake has the highest concentration of large fish in the whole Patterson Lakes system...probably because nobody is allowed to fish there:(

let us lure them out with a burly trail so they venture out to the "fishing" area where we can grab them heheh

I've never been in there as I don't have a boat.
Here is a map and an article about fishing that area.
It shows two small "no fishing" areas only.

i assume these are the area's where the pub is and where boats sit. and ya cant fish there boat shore nothing (to protect the boat or somthing)
the river you can fish, the lakes you can fish as long as you dont go on someones land (eg boat only)
