I use a double uni for joining a leader to braid and find it stronger than the albright but at times even this breaks when tested quite a lot, anyway i dont know if others have tried it but ive found that if i use a little squirt of sorbalene cream (hand lotion) and wipe it on the doubled braid it not only slips better but it makes the braid behave like a single line and not a double, a little cream is then put on flouro before uni is tightened, anyway i have found this gives you a better knot and you dont get the failures you do with just using a little spit, try it yourself and see?>.

I use a bit of chapstick. Works a treat.

Does using these products seem to affect the fish in anyway? I would have thought to use something more "fish" orientated such as tuna oil or something more natural to their environment.

Mate it makes no difference to catch rate, attaching leader is the worst part of using braid, just try it ok, knot failures dramas over.

Mate a little tube of handcream would be perfect, if you use a double uni just smear on double and it will stick together and be more manageable like its a single thread, put a smear on fluoro and bobs your uncle, i hated tieing leaders because of time it took and failure rate when tested, but all good now.

If you're worried about smell use megastrike or catchscent. I've you use scent already, it'll saves you carrying an extra tube of cream,

Hehe... I can see it now, you use scent to tie the leader knot and the fish will just snip your line off there :D I wonder how good blowies are at shearing through braid.
