All I know is that I don't think you want that reel.

If you are after a cheap reel for a second outfit, stick with the brands that have been around a few years and who are properly represented in Australia with a service and parts centre and who are likely to be here in a few years when you need a part.

Brands like ABU, Daiwa, Penn, Shakespeare, Shimano, etc are ones that have demonstrated a commitment to the Australian market.

I think you need to be prepeared to pay up to $50 to get a reel that is going to work and last for any kind of serious fishing.

That is an ABU for $40 that is probably OK. Go to K-Mart and have a look at the reels from Daiwa and Shimano that they stock, you can usually find a respectable small/medium threadline for $50 or less from either of those manufacturers there.

Maybe even wait for a week and have a look at the Breammaster's new stuff. I saw some of it recently and I know he's planning on having an introductory/budget range of rods and reels.

This was not going to be a long term reel just a spare reel and for $15 i would not bother fixing it if any prob's jumped up. a cheep reel for a cheep rod i thought but maybe your right i should let them go??

thanks
Ben
