Bear and Davo were there when i got that fish, one of Davo's first boat Bream sorties and Bear had just caught a honking 39cm fish pictured below.
I did not deserve that fish, I did everything wrong, I had just finished re-tieing after a bust off and had the drag as loose as.
When he hit, it was nasty, my little stradic screamed and I was palming the spool to stop him going into the snags, i had to hold my rod up high and backwards to keep the line tight and the pressure on (there's a tip for you kid's). I got Bear to drive us out of danger so i could play the fish in relative safety and Davo got ready with the net (strange how we are all on the board for this one :cool:TEAMWORK ). This fish was pissed he had fallen for" THE OARGEE GOLD" and was full of energy taking line when ever i let it and when i didn't. I got him back to the boat and had him on board after a huge fight, it was a memorable catch one that brings you back time and time again hoping to replicate. And to catch it in the company of such fine Anglers and Gentlemen as Bear and Davo makes the experience 100 times better and memorable for me.
We kept him, Bears fish and about 14 of there mates alive in the well untill we got back to the ramp, so we could get some good pics. It was there that we got to give 3 little kids and their parents the chance to witness our catch, and we gave the kids the thrill to let them go. That is what it's all about, we are all great role models for young people like that, i hope they appreciate what fine animals they got to let live.

This guy was a lot of fun and my first really big fish.

After an everage day 1 at the Kalgan comp, I was determined to get into it on day 2. My first thought was to hit some spots that looked good late on day 1, but we didn't manage to fish.

I felt bad for my boater, Ian Bailey, who had a big night the night b4 and as he put it 'had made a sacrifice to the bream gods b4 putting the boat in'. He could be heard screaming for Huey from 100m.

Any way, we headed to Honeymoon Island first and Ian was busted off by a Mulloway that would have been 10kg no worries. A big buzz as it surfaced right along the boat b4 giving him the head shake.

We then drifted in about 50m closer to the ski ramp and Ian said to take first cast. Well, all hell broke loose and after a couple of mins this HONKER appeared at the surface. Mate, what a buzz.

After getting Warren to weigh it (he had the Berkley scales) and posing for the camera, it went in the well only to be checked every 5 mins. Sorry, couldn't believe I got it and on the trusty gold Oar-Gee.

You're too kind Geoff, but to this day that is one of my all time fave Bream pics. It was great to release those fish with the kids and I will always remember the look on their faces.

Hopefully they are Breamers of the future.

Sorry to delete those pics guys, it might get a bit confusing for those trying to vote.

If we can just put the pics up that are vying for the title, we only need Matts pic now...

Cheers

Warren.
