Just wondering what peoples favorite knots are for
1) fireline to tackle
2) fireline to mono line
Are blood knots no good for fireline??

Matt, both of those situations I'm going with a 7 turn uni.
I've had bloodknots slip in fireline. Go the uni knot for both (I generally use 8-10 turns in braid). Guess thats why it's called the uni (universal) knot. :D

We've had a few threads here on this subject, one yesterday or earlier today.
Seems to me the majority are happy with a double uni knot to attach a mono leader to Fireline.
Not many are fishing Fireline all the way to their terminals, if they are a uni knot is again a reasonable choice, just use more turns than you would in mono.
I'd go with a 7 turn uni

Uni knot for sure!
And they get easier to tie over time :D

I agree with you Jim,
I never use more than 5 turns, usually only 4 turns in the leader (4# Fireline to 4# Flurocarbon), and never had a problem, that is since I've learned to tie them properly, knots ain't knots you know, practice makes perfect, I believe the secret to a good double uni knot, or any knot for that matter, is all in the subtlelties/technique of how you draw the knot tight, something that can only be learnt with practice, it's the reason the more you use a particular knot the more you like it. The advantagees of less turns are obvious, easier and quicker to tie and a much smaller knot.
Cheers Geoff.

Improved Albright for the leader knot - no double in the Fireline either, it's never let me down :D

Fireline to leader: Tying before a trip? Bimini then albright. After being busted off? Double Uni.
Fireline to tackle: Single Uni.

1) Triple Palomar, tricky to tie at first but indestructible
2) Double Uni-Knot 5-8 turns each depending on line thickness (thicker=less)

Would like to know is it necessary to double up the braid when using the double uni with fluoro.

I have a modified knot derived from the uni
but really all i do is put a simple "granny" loop at the top of the uni.
I have previously had unis slip on me if for instance im hung up and need to use brute force to get the lure out. The extra loop does prevent that and also works well with mono on jigs and SP's
