Anyone used either of these reels for casting bream or bass lures? The Scorpion's been out for a while and is probably the more economical of the two. The new Pixie looks the goods for lighter lures... check it out here:

just wondering if anyone's actually used/played with/even seen one of these?

cheers

That's what I'm wondering. I know the Chronarch can cast Bennet Merlins, Tilsan Bass and Mann's Stretch 5+ with 4lb Superbraid, and these reels are superior for casting light weights. Problem is you wouldn't get too much distance I doubt...

Hi,

I am also looking to buy a Shimano Scorpion, I have looked and played around with it in Compleat Angler, it is a very smooth and awesome reel. My only concern is that the Max Drag is only 3lb, and that the wiffle spool reduces the line capacity.

Cheers

The pixy is said to be suitable for freshwater only. Although i think you could use it for brackish water, although u'd need to clean it well after every session. The scorpion has had a massive following in america, and is said to have the casting performance of a reel thats twice its price.
