do you think it would be ok to put a clear coat of sray paint over your lures or do you think it would make some colours run , iwas thinking of doing it to my smilin jacks raw prawn in the natural prawn colour baecause that is one of the best colours for bream in my area but the paint on them come off so easily so i wanted to see if it works (i have still caught fish on it when its clear though) as they are a cheap lure ill try anyway and if it doesnt work ill paint my own colour :D :D i dont think you would need to do it on more quality lure as they pretty much have a clear coat of some thing on them

Most household type clear paints would be OK I think.
You'd need to be careful with automotive paints and two part paints, the solvents in these would be quite likely to dissolve the plastic of the lure, let alone existing paint on the lure.
Just get a spray pack of Estapol Clear or similar and test it on one of your lures and see how it goes.

Estapol is going to come off as easy as the original paint.
I'd be more inclined to try a two part epoxy, same epoxy that you would use on your guides should be ok.
But as PW said some two pack jobs will eat away the lures especially if they are made of polystrene.
Hey. I'd go to your local hobby store (as in model a/c, cars , boats, etc. Not Craft Store), and by a little tin of clear hobby paint. A couple of coats of that should do it. I've been doing it on my home mades, and i can honestly say that they are the goods.
Funnily, i used a pressure pack of paint (red) on one of my lures. When I applied the clear, the red started disolving. It was cheap paint. The clear hasn't ever disolved a tin paint, but it does seem to do it to Pressure Pack Paints.
It wont harm the paint that the manufacturer applies though!!!

I found that a tin of clear gloss spray paint from the local hardware and plenty of time between coats worked wicked. Probably did about 6 or 7 coats with any where from 10 to 18 hours between coats( depending on my schedule). definately at least 10 hrs minimum though.

Clear Nail Polish, simple. If you wanted to re-paint them there is DohDohDohDoh loads of neat colours, plus its cheap and easy to apply:D
