this is prob a dumb question but do i need a leader?
i have just started using braid on my new fandangle rod and was wandering can i tye straight to the braid rod or do i need a leader?

start with 6-8lb flurocarbon

yep, you need a leader, try a search for leader knots and you are right to go. l normally go 4lb to 6lb, or 6lb to 8lb.

You deffenetly need a leader mate, with a leader the fish wont see your line and wont get line shy in clear water also having mono leader means when the fish rubs up against a pylon or some rocks it will absorb a little more abrasion because fireline will cut really easy and the bit of stretch in the mono might help to prevent from pulling the hooks when putting alot of pressure on a fish.

Generally its just a matter of the bream being very smart and ignoring your lure because they can see your line.

Hope that gives you some reason why to tie a leader on even if it takes a bit of time away from having your lure in the water. Once you get used to tying leaders, you will tie them pretty quick.
