Eskies???

I'm in the market for a new esky about the 80 litre mark or so.
It needs to hold enuff food and drinks for a weekend away for two ppl and be robust and long lasting.
What would you guys recomend??

Hi Tony,

It depends if you want a normal esky or a fair dinkum esky like an icebox.

I have a 65 litre Waeco icebox and it is great. It keeps ice for a couple of days whereas my old 'normal' esky used to melt ice o/night.

Hi Tony - I've got a huge Coleman esky that does the job fine - and double as an insulated livewell:)

I'd love an Evercool or similar but the Coleman's never let me down so I can't justify the expense of a newbie (to the wife that is:rolleyes: - maybe if I drilled a couple of holes in it.......:D)

those waeco iceboxes look the goods Ozy i sent a request for more details and availability on those. The price is a lil scary but if they are as good as they look i might opt for one of those.
Dave, I have two 45 litre Coleman eskies in my boat (one for food and drinks and the other for fish) but the uv DohDohDohDoh are breaking down the lids quite badly. Those two eskies are about 2 yrs old now and one of the lids is basically shot now. I'm gonna give the lids on them a bit of preservative in the form of that spray foamofil to try and put off the time to trash those eskies for another season i hope. If i buy another pair of colemans eskies for the boat i will give them the foamofil treatment from new i think. The lids on them are just hollow without foam insulation. Good for the price but not long term investments.

If you have a bit of extra cash I'd even look at the range of custom ones you can get made. The guy who did my caravan hard annex did my eski as well. Around $300, but what an eski.

I have it set up well in my camping trailer.

Ok guys,
I bought a Comos esky the other day and have been testing it with a single bag of party ice in it. at the moment after almost 3 days there is still a handful of ice remaining. The esky is in the tin garage and its about 30+C out there during the day, so im very happy with how it keeps ice. I opted for the 80 litre model and I am impressed with the way this esky is made.
It is injection moulded heavy duty polyurethane plastic with about 3mm of poly inside and out. The insulation is high density polyurethane foam that is injected so its fully bonded together.
The insides are a white polyurethane also.
Heavy duty hinges are moulded in also and it is lockable too.
Being poly they are about 50% lighter than a fibreglass esky and they wont fracture the bottom out of them travelling over rough roads in the back of the ute.
They have three strips of wear resistant plastic welded to the bottom of the eskies so that the bottom of the esky itself does not touch the ground.
For under 200 dollars i think they are a steal.
