Hi Guys

I had a great arrival today and I thought I would fire some of you up who haven't entered the comp yet. We received a heap of cool stuff from the team at Pure Fishing who have given our comp fantastic support. I unpacked it and yes it did feel a little like XMAS so I took a shot to show you guys. This isn't the major prize just for the winning team for each individual round one team on Saturday and one team on Sunday will walk away with this gear. I'm talking for each winning angler 2 drop shot rod combos one 7'2 and one 6'6 matched with the new abu alloy 1500 & 2500 reels, Stacks of plastics including some new ones no one has seen yet which look awesome, Berkley cap shirt, vanish ,fireline, jigheads and the Berkley DVD. Not a bad prize for winning a round when usually there is no prize for winning an individual day.

I thought I would put some close up shots of these awesome new plastics they look great and I'm sure will be a big hit when they land in stores. We are lucky to be able to give some away at our comp.
Enjoy.
If you want them you just have to fish our comp. Come on guys we still want more entries to the Bream Classic at the Hoppies and with the entries closing on the 18th of November any of you who are undecided pull ya finger out and put an entry in you won't be disappointed as its going to be a great weekend for all.

Cheers Bill

Also just to remind the guys fishing in the comp if you haven't already booked accomodation give the Warrnambool Holiday park a call as the official accommodation of the comp they will give you a good deal and if enough of us stay there they will give one team their accomomdation for free for the weekend which would be nice.

Cheers Bill

I know comments on how good a lure is are useless unless you have experienced hot bights on more than 4 occassions - but those 2 inch do look good:)

Ones a fluke
Two is a coincidence
Three's worth noting and
Four good sessions in a row makes it a hero.

Either that or the fish were bighting anything that week :D

I will have to see how many flyers Nath brings back home from the Grandfinal mate

Yellow door you know what they say about lures mate they mainly catch fisherman not necessarily fish.

But I think these berkley ones will do some damage on the fish too

P.s. The blokes who say fish are hard to catch in the docks are recognising their inability as a fisherman - I'm one of them but there are heaps of blokes who dont post on the forums that slay them in there on placs.

its understandable,im not sure u could say "heaps " as i hardly ever see any one else fishing, and if they are they are mainly bait.i think with a boat the docks is pretty fishable, landbased+plastics i think its quite a challenge.

Yeh that comment was out of line - the fishing in the docks is tough

I had a good chat with Royter and Wayne Friebe way back when the plastics craze first started and those 2 were getting cricket scores on bream in the yarra. They even made a homemade video of it. Anyway, the topic turned to fishing the docks and the both of them said they'd never fish that area because it was not worth their time given it was so difficult to catch them there. The only time they would fish there is if they're eating lunch and want to find a sheltered calm area to eat lunch and while they're at it, make a few casts.
Granted I'm not one of those who can be considered "good" with bream on lures, I nearly gave up chasing bream on lures after fishing the docks exclusively for a year and a bit for only 3 bream landed. When I was shown the yarra by Swank_E, I got 3 in the first session as opposed to 3 in a year and a half at the docks..
The bream at the docks do have their moods and I remember once (only once in a long time, mind you) when a friend went to the docks with plastics and the bream were going nuts. He'd just lower the SP into the water, hold it for a while and the bream would be climbing over themselves to hit the SP.
If you recalled, the first BREAM tourney in Vic was held in Docklands with Starlo winning it with 3 fish and second place was Lee raynor with 2. Another Melbourne tourney, most of the guys went to the yarra, but Tim Morgan fished the docks for very little results while the rest were doing really well in the yarra.
The docks are tough and anyone who says they aren't are in a different league altogether.. There's us mere mortals, and then there's Jordan...

Good stuff mate

Any pics of the trev's. What did you catch em on? Was the tide moving.

I caught them on the Eco Gear grass minnows in sizes S and M, they were smahing them left right and centre on Sunday. Alas shortly after they were starting to hot up I had to leave to be back in Stawell before midnight  :( . I got photo's but they are on the slide film. The tide was just starting to slow up untill it stopped then I had to go and they were still everywhere. Those prizes are going to be awesome for the Bream Classic, cant wait to win them, well try anyway. Just wish the comp would hurry up and get here  :D :D .

Lol - Some days he does make it look a little easy. Hooked - played and landed all while eating an Icecream. The smart arse was even out fishing us while we were using baits.

Jordan put me onto my first bream on plastic. I just remember how after I'd caught my first, I decided to flog a particular corner of his for a while, hoping to catch another. Of course, he comes back after something like fifteen minutes and two casts later, lands another one.

Did I mention that he'd already caught one from that exact same hole before he showed me how to do it? Well, he did...

That cast has since been named "The Insult". He still does that to us these days. And it is still working.:D

Peeking through an insert in Modern Fishing I got a look at one of the Abu Cardinal Alloys. As I have a soft spot for my C100UL, I'd be really interested in seeing if there's an upgraded model.

Hey Ballnuts, any joy with those pics? What sizes do they come in?

Ballnuts
16-11-2005, 04:47 PM
Sorry mate

I have been flat out getting married and trying to organise some final comp issues. I will get those pics on the web tonight. The size of the reels are 1500 and 2500.

Cheers

So how the nubers looking Bill? It should be great time the fishing was on the improve last weekend and the water temps where on the way up, so the fish should be going off.

Ballnuts

Gday Drewy

I have to say mate this is shaping up to be a great event. We should have around the 30 teams competing with loads of stuff to give away. The sponsors have been great. Also looks like we have organised a function for the Saturday night at the Royal Hotel in Warrnambool which will be great for the social atmosphere of the comp. Myself Stewie and Nath have worked really hard to make this event as porfessionally run as possible.
I am in discussions with the guys from Rokart as we speak trying to maybe organise some really cool polo Shirts for the comp with original art work. Hope to have them for people to buy and some shirts to give away not sure yet.

If the fishing cooperates it will be an awesome weekend.

Oh by the way Drewy just tell Spiro that at this comp there is to be no blood in the live well, he must keep reminding himself he's fishing for bream not trevally
Cheers Bill. ::D

If you look at their previous Cardinal series (100, 300, 500, 600, 700) you'll see that they come in increasing sizes, e.g for the C100 series (light blue finish), there was 100UL, 101, 102, 104, etc. This was what was available Stateside though.

Until recently I owned a Cardinal C764 (?), and there were two others, a 762 and a 766. I bought the 764 here in Australia. I have also seen a C501 (2nd smallest in Cardinal 500 series) on the shelves here.

So the 1500 and 2000 size designations only make sense to me when I think of Shimano and Daiwa. UL size is like my C100UL. You can see it in my post of my high 80's queenfish on the Brag Board.
It's slightly smaller than a 1000 Shimano, and wasn't available in Australia, as far as I know (tried to get parts, but couldn't).

Im really pumped now, lets hope the fishing goes nuts. Those Realistix minnows look excelent, they will be all over the forums as soon as they turn up in stores no doubt.

Troy we better do well, I need a new combo!:D

Drewy

Nice Bill, hope a few more guys pull there fingers out and you get the 40 teams you were after. l need a new combo as well, a few weeks ago chasing the pink l lost one of my certate/battler combos in the bay. OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, it took me a couple of weeks to even go into the shed and look @ the boat let alone go fishing.

Ballnuts

Drewy I am in tears for you as I write this mate

I just got a sparrow and certate 1500 and if it went in the drink I don't know what I would do. We are giving away a rod and reel combo all the way down to 5th place and then prize packs from 6th to 10th and are still to get some more tackle from Shimano so the combo prizes may get pushed even further down the leader board past 5th place. We are trying to give away as much stuff as we can get our hands on to the top ten finishes so that more anglers have a chance of walking away with a good prize.

Hopefully your luck changes at the comp mate

Cheers Bill
