Just wondering what everyone elses best fish capture has been. Mine is a 17kg Dhuie caught last year. Have photos around somewhere, anyone here caught a 20kg dhuie??

My biggest ever fish is a 58kg Lemon Shark at Thevenard Island.
My most memorable was a 19kg Barramundi. I didn't think a fish that big could jump like this did.
If you haven't fished for Barra, do it one day.

Great effort Bear, what size tackle was the lemon shark caught on? Barramunda is a fish I have always wanted to catch but after reading a article on black bass they would be right up there:)

Shark was caught on size 9 Gama with a live moses perch. No sinker, but on a balloon rig.
Barra and especially big ones are a real site when hooked.

Probably the Yellowtail Kingfish I landed on Merimbula Pier, it was around 60cm and was a handful on my 6 kg surf outfit. Was casting a big chrome hex lure for them early one morning.

My biggest was a 255kg Blue Marlin taken at Norah Canyons approx 40 miles NE of Sydney the toughest was a 84 kg Yellowfin Tuna from the South West bank at Lord Howe Island followed by a 9kg Mackerel Tuna on a 3kg baitcaster. Land based back in the late 70's I got a 18kg Kingfish at Avoca while spinning & on a technical difficulty score of 10 was a 4 pound Brown trout taken on 4 pound line in the Corryong River in Victoria. I had to swim a deep rapid complete with my shotgun & ammo plus 4 rabbits hanging of my belt :D :D

Best and most memorable would be a 28kg Wahoo caught whilst game fishing off the coast of Fiji. I have a photo, but it's posted on the game fishing board at the Fijian Resort (Black Marlin Bar).
I loved the way the boat ran up the flags for what fish were caught as they came back into port. We were hounded by villagers for the "little" tuna and barracuda at the wharf though. :) They were only pan-size at 5-6kg each.

The biggest fish I have caught was off Bunbury targetting Dhuie but unfortunately these buggers moved in. It was caught on 15lb line and weighed around 70lb. The first and last hopefully
Some people regard them as pests only cause they taste like sh.. apparently, good fun to catch though.

Yeah, scored a top reel from them, an epix 60.
No my son and I went down to Umina Beach in July last year with our 6 1/6 foot rods, Epix EB30 reels, no: 1 hooks and a dozen bloodworms, hoping to catch some Bream!

Just goes to show ya that luck does play a part in fishing unless of course you regarded it as a by-catch!!!Some folks target mulloway(as we call 'em) specifically and come away with nothing. Again well done.

My Biggest Was a 95cm Barra (my first) around 13-15kg, pulled from a forest of dead wood in Peter Faust Dam. Proserpine QLD. Yeah they can jump alright! I was using 30lb braid and thumbing the spool, with the drag almost locked up just to stop her getting back to the snags.
I'd ASKED for a few days off work to head up there so I could go for a fish with my mate and somehow got fired. I sent a picture of me and the horse back to the boys at work and told the boss what I thought of him. That fish was definately worth losing my job over!

All of 39kg or 86lbs and off the rocks buy myself. It was nearly as big as me and I hade to carry it up a big hill to get it to the car to get the photo. I hade just come back from steep point where I hade been stitched up about 10 YT Kingfish and was not letting this one get away. Boy did it hirt.

My biggest fish would be a very large eagle ray, measuring 1.2m wingspan and weigh about 60??kg
Does this count as a big fish capture??
Took 3ppl and about 2 hrs to land it.
Otherwise it would have to be the 10lb tailor from Cottesloe in Oct 2002. Caught on baitcast mulie and 4kg line.

A 10kg Bronze Whaler from the 90 mile beach. On 4kg with no wire trace, so I was lucky to land it and it's the only shark I've ever caught.
I routinely get shown up by women, a former girlfriend won a fishing comp in Echuca when she caught a huge carp and my wife has caught the biggest bream and whiting I've seen.

My personal best fish would be this 'coutta caught (and released) at Gove a couple of years back. We estimated it at around 20+kg on 10 kg mono (not a particularly good photo but it's the best of a few). I stand about 5'8" and there's about 2' of tail still on the deck!
MattJ: that sambo is an absolute stonker! 50kg+?
