Hey guys,
I was wondering how i could mask any odour i put on my spool while cleaning etc. What do you reckon about spraying ultrabite on the spool of line. Would this harm the line in any way?
Cheers,

My line gets sprayed often with Lanox when doing my reels and it dosnt make to much difference at all - seen starlo do it on Hooked on Adventure.
Id probably think twice about spraying an attractant on it on it though, it could get sticky and be counterproductive - thats only a guess by me so JMO.

Yeh thanks richo, i thought of that sticky issue lol. I lubricate my reels with wd40 and i am so careful not 2 get it on, im prob 2 cautious, but hey it cant hurt.

I spray the whole thing with Lanox including including over the line and its fine. Give Lanox a go and see what you think - most shops have it including in little spray cans.

yeah, i wouldnt go putting scents on braided line the effects may not show up straight away but over time im guessing it would get sticky and or gunky.

Lanox is related to Innox but has lanoline in it .... Starlo recommends coating your spool with it before spooling up ....

hey nathan lanox is just a heavy duty anti-corrrosion lubricant which doesnt dry out or wash off with water. I got it recomended by the guys at my tackle store it cost around $13 for a 300gm net spray can. it's awesome. You can spray it all over and inside your reels. it's used every were dude farming minning and marine and not to mention heaps of other uses.

So is this lanox just like a lubricant for you whole reel? Or just mainly used before spooling new line on to your reel??

Lanox is used as "maintenance" lubricant for your reel, it helps repel water as you spray it onto your reel.
My question is whether i can do the same with Innox. Is there much of a difference between the two???

hey
i wouldnt reccomend putting innox on your braided lines, i accidentally got some on a couple of cm's of my fireline and after what i read about lanox i thought it wouldnt matter. when i went fishing i pulled on my line under a loose drag pressure and the fireline snapped right where the innox had gone on, it changed the colour of the line and weakened it alot in a just a day.
dunno if anyone else has had this problem but i am going to be very careful when using it on my reels in the future. lanox might be different so i cant comment on lanox.
cheers

I regularly spray Inox all over my reels including on the spool/fireline. Know a lot of other guys who do too, never had any probs with it. Lanox is a little heavier/greasier (since it is lanoline based (lanoline is derived from the grease/oil in sheeps wool), Inox is vegetable based)and a little more susceptible to "gunking" up, so I prefer Inox myself. I would never put WD-40 anywhere near my reels and especially my line.

i put some innox on a bit of line today and it just made it gunky so i realise i was wrong in blaming the innox. i still wont put it on my lines but i realise it may have been a mixture of grease and inox from my reel that damaged the line cause while i was cleaning, the line got wrapped around the inside of my handle where there was a mixture of a couple of lubricants in that area. it was the first time i had used innox it so i automatically blamed it when i had a problem i had never had before. ive been using wd 40 on my reels with no problems for ages so i guess its just personal preferance
my bad
cheers
