Help with electric motors

Hi all,
I am currently 'modifying' my 3.6m tinny, and before I go welding and cutting, I need to sort out the electric motor situation.

I dont have an electric motor, but I will get one once the boat is done, but for me a bow mounted motor would be best, but I have a great big dirty rail on the front of the boat, as the picture shows. The piece of ply is going to be replaced, with a better fitting piece as well.

I would like to keep the rail on the bow, but cut it down to 1/2 the original height,but the dilemma is whether I will need to leave an open gap between the end of the proposed bow rail and the 'eye' on the bow, to accomodate the electric motor bracket....:confused:

How should I mount my electric on the bow, how are all the different ways of mounting them, and what kind of motor should I get???

A lot of you guys would have electric motors and (some) would have had the same problem I have, so some advice will be needed!!! Bearing in mind my boat is a 3.6m car topper (lightweight) tinny with an evinrude 8hp.

well mate i think there is another dilemma b4 the bow rail one,u see i think in ur thread u said that u removed that bit of wood from the bow,if that is corredt u will have to make a new bow plate thingy as the xisting does not look big enough to a leccy foot.after this is sorted out the way to mount is make sure it follow the edge of the boat from the tip of the bow down either side as not to encroach upon ur casting platform area.as for the leccy itself i would be looking at somehting from the minn kota bow mount,foot-controlled rabge,probably the best goin around,u will find the most commonly used on the bream seen is probably the rip tide,however the cable steer maxxums are becoming more popoular,really u have to the research to find out what will suit ur needs best,check out my thread "advantages and disadvantages" which is in this forum,may help in ur decision,hth.
