enviro jigs or some squidgy jig heads because both have a catching tab thing on them so once you slide the powerbait over it you can flick that lure around without it peeling of (enviro are better though)

Nitro Bream Bullets by far. They give the BM's an unbelievable flutter action and other SP's.

Troys right ,
Nitro bullet heads really work the minnows to there full potential l believe. l use a 1/22 mostly in water around 3-4 m and a1/32 in anything shallow with a size#4 Hook,

TT or squidgy in whatever weight suits your fishing territory will be fine, i bought some TT today and they seem very good.

Nitro're good, I used to use them almost exclusively until I couldn't afford to be spending so much on jigheads alone. I'd be very wary of the round squidgy heads. I've heard too many reports of them opening up and Ted, a mate of mine has had one open up on a good jack. Still, if you're not dealing with tough fish, they should be ok. It's funny though, the finesse heads actually have the heavier gaudge hook.

yeah i forgot to mention that i like the tt hidden weights for when u want the unweighted effect but u need to make a longish cast, jmo.

1/8oz size 2 gamakatsu round does the job for me.
Or 1.5 gram size 4 hook if the fish are finiky. JMO.

Not for me anyway mate...
Doesn't affect the action at all.
Have used 2gram finnesse head's on bassminnows before, but havn't caught anything as of yet... Gives the bait a real nice action. Finnesse heads on bass minnows should be an advantage because the jig's can sway underneath boats and pontoons which should give you more of a chance to hook up to a fish.
HTH. ;)

You know it sounds like people use really light weights thinking thats its finesse to do so ect, but reallistically i find in casting situations to dropoffs and chanells and fishing in 2-3meters of water ect you need at least 3gm, so if you need the weight use it and who cares what it says on the packet, my prefferred weight is 4gm and i catch a lot of fish.

I usually fish 1.5 grams in 18ft. of water here in Vic.
Get's down pretty quicky for me...Just feed out a little bit of extra line and it's apple's! ;)
Are you catching bream with the 4gram weights mate?

Yes sure am, even used 6gm and caught just as many fish, i guess this time of year i average 8-12 per trip.

It's a matter of what you have. Round heads supposedly won't give you anywhere near as much action as a profile head of sorts but if they're small baits with a light jighead, I find there's little difference.

Use the lightest weight possible for the conditions ie: wind, current and tide etc. I was using 1/24th when people said to use 1/8th heads to get to teh fish. End result me and my son fish 1/8th heads no fish. Use just enough weight to get the SP down to where the fish are and no more. Have used BM's on 2gm's heads but caught nothing, umm hello. Profile heads give differant actions. The best Jig Heads I have found for the ultimate action are teh nitro's Bream Bullets, they give an real fleeing fluttering action. The action comes from the profile of the head as well, round heads have a certain drag in the water limiting their effectiveness. The profile heads give differant flow of water over the head creating a differant action. If you get a chance try a few differant Jig Heads in a pool or clear water and see the diffeant actions each has. It will also give you an idea on the retrieves to use in each scenerio.

I used the TT tournament heads in 1/8 today and found them to give a great action, will definateally buy more of them, perhaps a tad heavier as well for casting and getting depth.

I use bassmaster 1/16th with head that is shaped like a fish head. They give the flick baits a good darting action when jerked.

Funny how you guys think the Squidgy heads are all that. I have had a few bad experiences with them now ( the worst the case Owen mentioned: lost a VERY nice mangrove jack ). Now I know the small roundheads are not really meant for taking on jacks, but i had that fish whipped and coming home when the hook opened out. It looked like a bent paperclip. Also, while the wire keeper holds the plastic quite well at first, I notice that it quickly tears into the body, ruining the section it's in. Worse if you are getting short strikes: the cumulative damage has me changing lure bodies just as often as with other styles of keepers.
